PHISHING SCAMS

What is phishing?
Phishing is a form of fraud where a person tried to obtain your information such as login credentials or account information often through email attempt. Phishing emails are designed to look like they are sent from a legitimate source but are sent automatically by robots en masse.

As many have been working from home, we have seen an increased volume of phishing emails and wanted to share this post as a friendly reminder to be safe and protect yourself.

Here are some tips to help prevent phishing attacks.

Check the senders address or identity.
Although the email may show it is from someone in your address book, hover your mouse over the display name to verify it is their legitimate email address.

Inspect the content of the email
Are there many spellings grammatical or even formatting mistakes? If so, be wary and do not reply.

Do not click on the attached links
It is important to never click on hyperlinks or images attached in the email, as it could direct you to a fraudulent website or download malicious software.

Enhance your computer security
Be sure the software on your computer is set to update automatically so it can block viruses
