THE DO’S AND DON’TS OF WORDPRESS

As the new year is soon approaching, now is the time to start updates to your website. Although it can seem like an easy task, working on the back end of WordPress can have its challenges. Here are some do’s and don’ts..

  • Do not update your WordPress to the latest version. Instead, contact the professionals, here at Digital Lagoon. Updating the back end and plugins can lead to losing data or content on your site.
  • Do not go live with your updates without reviewing. Instead, make sure to use preview mode to ensure the changes are how you intended it to look.
  • Do not add images that aren’t sized correctly. It is always a great idea to update your slider images with your most recent project or a fun new design, but if it is not the right size it can be pixelated. Do make sure that all images for your sliders are between 600-1200 pixels wide.
  • When updating content, do not add long blocks of text. When a user visits your website, they are coming to read the highlights of what you do. Make sure your content is focused and to the point. This includes adding titles or headings that are short, sweet, and searchable.

This is just a starting list of reminders that are critical when making edits. If you have any questions about potential updates to your site, contact Digital Lagoon. We are happy to help!
